The Escobedo Soliz Studio was established in Mexico City in 2016 by classmates Pavel Escobedo (Tepic, 1988) and Andrés Soliz (Mexico City, 1990).
Their practice is based on the continuous exploration of materials, structures, and construction systems to find specific solutions for each unique situation. The particularities of each project define their design and construction approach. Their architectural language stems from a sensitive reading and interpretation of a project's specific characteristics: site, program, human and material resources, socio-cultural background, and memory.
"Doing more with less" (time, resources, and impact) has become a constant principle in their work—a method to achieve a strong tectonic and sensory language while meeting the client's timeline and budget.
Parallel to their studio practice, they have developed an academic career, first as teaching assistants and later as design studio professors at the UNAM Faculty of Architecture (2016–2020). In 2019, they were invited as visiting professors at the IUAV University of Venice.
Their work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Holcim Awards for Sustainable Architecture in 2014, The MoMA Young Architects Program in 2016, the Emerging Voices 2020 by The Architectural League of New York, and the Fritz Höger Preis "Grand Prix" in 2020.
Their projects have been exhibited internationally at institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the MAXXI in Rome, the 16th and 17th Venice Architecture Biennale, the LIGA DF Architecture Gallery, and the Latin American Architecture Biennial in Pamplona in 2023.
They have been invited to lecture at the IUAV University of Venice, the Technical University of Berlin, the University of Navarra, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, among others.
